Discover the fascinating Martime history of Vlissingen
Museum Scheldewerf offers a unique look into the history of the former Royal Company De Schelde in Vlissingen. Located in the Scheldekwartier, close to where Damen and Amels continue their high-quality shipbuilding, the museum shares the story of 125 years of shipyard history at De Schelde.
Here, you’ll learn about the renowned passenger ship Willem Ruys, constructed at this shipyard, and discover the impressive 40-meter-high tower crane just outside the museum. The museum also showcases a beautiful collection of Delft blue ceramics, maritime paintings, and photography. Additionally, there is a small cinema where you can enjoy a film with a cup of coffee and a treat.
For Kids
Kids can join a fun photo scavenger hunt. There’s also a chance to create their own Delft blue breakfast plate using porcelain markers (€2.50). Or, if they prefer, they can fold paper boats, draw, paint, play with model tower cranes, or even build their own with Meccano and assembly kits—all with professional guidance.
